My wonderful, wonderful parents have paid for our 2013 holiday as a surprise. They told us this weekend (we had been talking about the holiday, dates etc so it's definitely something we're very grateful for).

DS will need 2 days out of school in early November 2013. They'll be the first 2 days back after half term. By then he will be in Y2

How much notice will we need to request the days off from school?

Thanks.

The earlier the better so put in a request now.

Thank you. I thought so, but then worried school might be a bit Hmm getting a holiday request nearly 18 months ahead.

I put mine in 18 months ahead on the week DS1 started school. HT said it was ok before we applied then refused it. We went anyway, it was only a week and was the only time we could go, he was 5 so I wasn't that fussed.

We didn't get a fine, that could be because the HT thought we meant the first October and said as he was not going to be 5 then it was up to us. I never corrected her, I put the right dates on the form. He had to write a holiday diary.

I'll get the forms tomorrow. Try & sway them that it'll be educational 'DS will be visiting the Guggenheim Museum and the museums of Paris. Whether he likes it or not'. Grin
