Has anyone any experience of the Junior girls school please.

We live about 20 minutes away but not sure between this and Tower College near St Helen's.

Thanks

I went to Stanfield and loved it. However, that was 27 years ago!

If you're that close why not go for one of the many outstanding state primaries in Crosby? Great Crosby, St Luke's,.forefield ,valewood to name but a few.

Do you want to use MTGS? If so, I would use Stanfield.

We visited Tower College - wholly underwhelmed. Portacabin classrooms and complete disinterest in sport.

Teachers seem nice enough if a little old school, IYSWIM. Think music provision is decent, but not outstanding. Upper school had no extra curricular, think its because everyone goes home on school bus.

Wasn't a difficult decision at all to not go with this school.

But sorry, no experience of MTGS!

Thanks EBDTeacher, I hope they have moved on a little in that time - but in a good way.

We had a visit and I really liked it, the infants was a bit cramped, but nice new building for Juniors. Not much outdoor space though which was sort of disappointing, lots of sports and swimming at the boys school.

Aunt Petunia - we don't live in Crosby, but more towards St Helens area, dd is in a state school at the moment, but we always planned to move her.

threeineachlobe - I felt a bit the same really, the head was a bit 'full of herself' which put me off a little and the fact that they only go up to Yr6. OH very negative about it, but it is quite near us. Did you choose another Independent?

I remember when I was little how huge that field at Stanfield seemed to me! I was quite surprised to see it as an adult and realise that it is actually quite small!

Lack of space is a feature throughout the three schools. The senior girls school is very short of outdoor space. They do have fields at Hall Road but obviously they are a bus ride away.

I wouldn't let it put you off though. The education certainly set me up incredibly well and I don't think that has changed.

In my day the lack of outdoor facilities certainly didn't stop either the school teams or individuals achieving. There used to be a good number of county and national level hockey players and swimmers and I really appreciated the opportunity to learn to row.

My DM's friend's grandson (!) started at Stanfield this year and friend was commenting what lovely manners he has picked up at school so I don't think that ethos has changed either.

Good luck with your decision!
