Hi can anyone recommend where I can get my daughter reviewed for possible dyscalculia around Manchester? Thanks

Why do you want to get her reviewed? I only ask because there is so little understanding of dyscalculia and not a lot of specialist provision for it, I'm not sure what benefit paying to have her tested would bring you both. Other than a label.

My understanding is that the 2 things dyscalculic children really struggle with is their times tables and telling the time on an analogue clock. And 50% of dyslexics are probably dyscalculic, but as dyscalculia research is around 20 years behind dyslexia the data is quite limited.

An earlier skill that dyscalculics often struggle with is knowing how many spots there are on a dice by looking at the pattern ie not having to count them every time, just knowing by the shape. A skill known in the trade as subitising. Professor Brian Butterworth is one of the leading UK experts on dyscalculia and when I heard him speak last year he said he had a free programme on line (maybe google would find it) that allows people to practise this skill.

I know this isn't the answer to the question you asked, but hopefully will be helpful to you.

Thanks for you answer, it was advised by her tutor. I just wondered if the lable would ensure she got more help at school.

i don't think the schools have a program of support for this issue.
my daughter has signs of discalcula SP.? they take her her out of some maths lessons or she has a TA sat with her and they use something called numicon to assist her.
we also do lots of practicing of number, writing and identifying. she gets a few of them the wrong way round constantly. she is 8.5 by the way.
she also cannot tell the time very well.
doing lots of number stuff at home has helped her feel more confident.
