disruption in class

Ive namechanged.

Is it acceptable that there is some kind of disruption each year in primary school for the same class? By that I mean, change of teacher, being taught in the hall for 6 mths due to building work, part time job sharers covering long term sick teacher, being taught by deputy head who is rarely in class due to his other duties. At least one of these has happened each year for the last 4 years to my dc. In addition, there are some very disruptive and badly behaved children in the class, which, the school say they are dealing with but I am concerned that my childs education and concentration ability is suffering.

What, if anything can I do? I know some parents have been in to the school but they've just been told its circumstances beyond their control and its unfortunate that it seems to have fallen on this particular class each time.

Acceptable or not, for a lot of the situations you describe the disruption would seem to be unavoidable. How can the school prevent a teacher from leaving, or becoming pregnant....?

Disruptive children are a different problem. If it persists and is a serious issue, talk to the teacher about it.

Thanks cup

I agree that lots of the situations are unavoidable but, the school seem to swap some of the teachers around each year. If one particular class has had a particularly disruptive year then surely it is avoidable to then give them a pregnant teacher or deputy head for the following year. Surely they deserve a consistent year and then the disruption can happen for a different class who has had a consistent year previously. No?

I think sometimes these things can be minimised, e.g. Teacher A was pg, rather than get a new class in Sept, she continued up school with existing pupils, when she went on mat leave a teacher coming back from mat leave took over. Result was that all classes only had one change of teacher. Some things can't be helped, the deputy will always have other things going on, and if one form entry have to have them at some point. Maybe they thought deputy would be more authorative for the disruptive elements. Hopefully you will get a better situation in Sept.

Keep on at them about the disruptive children, it's not helping anyone if it's ignored (disruptive children are being let down too).

Had awful problems in DDs yr2 class, but after lots of action things are on the up.

Good luck

I would keep on the pressure about disruptive children. Keep a log.
