Ds is a bit of a maths geek (gets it from his dad not me!) and seems to want find maths 'tests' fun Hmm. Yes really.

He is year 2 but probably working at about 3a level. Can anyone recommend some sources of free worksheets please...ideally where I won't have to create an account and get sent loads of junk emails forevermore? Ideally with lots of different types of maths questions rather than themed with just one thing - so not only times tables or whatever on each one.

Have you tired Maths Wizz?

That's "tried" not "tired" by the way!

Is that online though? I think ideally they'd be printable as he seems to prefer that (probably because I've nagged him about too much screen time being a bad thing).

Try nrich - it's a maths enrichment site run by Cambridge Uni, and has a whole range of problems + investigations, with new ones being posted each month. I use it a lot for my Y2 and 3 Gifted + Talented Maths group.

I wouldn't be too fussy about online resources, some of them are excellent.

I'm not fussy about online as I imagine they are more fun but he is. He doesn't really want to do maths on the PC as much. Maybe if I explain it's not part of his screen time though.

I use www.khanacademy.org/ with my DD. Once you create an account (it's all free) then it tracks your progress and gives you points, incentives etc. The sums come up on the screen and you enter in the answer, but you do the working out with pencil and paper, so maybe that's a nice medium for your DS?

There's everything from basic addition up to advanced calculus. You watch a video - brilliantly clearly explained in a very engaging way by the guy who founded the site (his mission is to bring high quality free tuition to the whole world!) - then you do the exercises.

Can't recommend it highly enough.
