What info can an absent father expect to get from his son's primary school?

A friend's son has chosen (at age 10) to go and live with his mother. The father has been the primary care-giver for the last 10 years. He is devastated. What information can he hope to obtain from his son's new primary school?

If he has parental responsibility, then any information he wants - the same as the mother.

If he has parental responsibility the school should provide exactly the same info to dad as it does mum, so newsletters, school reports etc. it does depend how good the school is though, my DH got put on an email circ for regular stuff and they always posted an extra school report to him. DH gets on fab with ex but it was just asked who wanted what info.

That's good to know. The mother is not at all reliable. The dad is worried about attendance etc... Would the school share concerns of this nature with him? they have 'joint-parental resp.' but they live 3 hours apart so it is hard for the dad to keep in touch in person.
