Another thread from me on similar subject really. How do I get the school admission policy reviewed as it is potentially discriminatory?

The policy will be the responsibility of the Governing Body. It is probable that it has just been reviewed to take account of the new Admissions Code to apply for 2013 applications. If the policy is being altered to take account of changes then it should be/should have been put out for consultation - our LA required all policies to have been amended and consultation completed and final version approved by Gov Body by mid March.

If you think the policy is discriminatory you can raise your concerns with the Governing Body - write to the Chairman - but any change would not be instant.

What do you feel is discriminatory?

last year at my RC school, catchment children with siblings lost out to catchment children without siblings and as such challenged to have the policy changed. (Priority was based on distance only).

Lots of people got in touch with the school to complain and the LEA but my understanding is that RC schools follow the local RC Diocese advice on criteria (near me most RC follow what is on the diocese website) so best starting with them maybe?

I would ask LEA too for guidance but from what my school says, they listen to the diocese more than the LEA on faith issues.

Perhaps start with the priest or governors to voice concerns.

Could you PM me with the name of the school and LA involved? I will take a look and advise whether or not it is likely to be regarded as discriminatory.

If you want to challenge the admission policy you refer the matter to the Schools Adjudicator.
