hello. Its parent's eve for DS1 this week. He is in yr2. Does anyone have any advice please about what i should be coming away with from meeting with his teacher. Of course I want to know if he is happy, does he have friends, does he apply himself, I know that there are concentration issues and he hates writing. Should I be asking about levels - if so what levels should we be looking at for yr2? I think they were doing SATs before Easter from how DS described the booklets - are these teacher marked?

TIA!

They'll talk you through the sats results if they are finalised, but it's no different to any other school year apart from that.

Is he above/ below nat av, where he should be in relation to current peer group?

Is he transitioning to a junior school?

Any issues, concerns.

Bog standard stuff really, unless he has a particular sn.

Should have said re concentration and writing, is it within normal bounds etc.

Sometimes stuff can get overlooked, but if he is coping well, happy and achieving his potential, then all a ok.

It's totally reasonable to ask about his levels. Either what he's on now, or what he's predicted to get at end of year (which is only a few weeks away)

End of Y2, Level 2 is fine, Level 3 is very good, and Level 1 is not good.

thanks you two. Am a secondary school teacher so don't want to look too pushy but at the same time want a realistic picture of how he's doing and how we can support him. Is quite unnerving to be sat on the other side of the table!
