Mathletics £39 per year - but I can't see inside what it does.

or Mathswhizz at £149 per year (£19.99 per month) which seems very expensive

or do I just stick with Bond books .........

Any advice / opinions welcome

We use Maths Whizz at school. Children really enjoy it and it is very easy to track their progress. Many have made a year's progress in 4/5 months. You can get a free trial as a parent, I think, it does sound like a lot of money.

I have used both and I liked maths whizz much better. We stopped it as it is so expensive.

Mathletics is a bit more clunky visually and i found it harder to tailor it to dd's ability. You can only change the level they are at twice i think. Maths whizz changes in its own. Some of my dd's friends love it because you can compete against other kids. My dd isn't bothered about that but one of my friends said that it got her ds really interested in maths as he is competitive.

As far as u can remember, after you pay for mathletics then you can cancel in the first month and get a refund.

Just started Mathletics, which is working well for my dds - when they use it Hmm

The free trial is apparently no longer working - I did a free trial a bit ago and DD (5) ended up in fractions - which put me off a bit, as she could do with getting better at adding double digit numbers, rather than adding fractions! It seemed to jump from place value to fractions ..... But she really liked the format and these mad monkeys that kept appearing.

Is it possible to manually cahnge what she is doing - ie where I know she needs extra practice? I can't figure it out from the website.

I'm overseas, coming back to the UK in September, and while we've done Singapore maths while we've been abroad, I thought a bit of practice would boost her confidence.

DD has Mathletics access vis school. She enjoys it, but it does only seem good for testing and practising ie. it doesn't teach you. DS did a trial lesson at Maths Whizz which seemed good to me ie. it actually showed him a multiplication strategy.

My dd did maths whizz for a year when she was in y2 as she was lacking confidence in maths and I liked the fact that it explains the concepts step by step and also uses the methods used in schools.

Her confidence improved so much that we don't do it anymore but I will be signing my son up from this summer, again only doing it for a year if required.

Although when she did it it was 'only' £99. I can't believe it's £149 now!
