Curriculum for Excellence - Scotland Nursery to Primary transition

Hello,

I'm interested in finding out how the above transition is managed by both the nursery and the primary school, but first some preamble. It is my understanding that the C for E differentiates between various levels and will assess kids as they progress through the education system. That's fine.

Having spoken to parents at our nursery it's clear that there's confusion about how the C for E is performed in nursery and how the transition to primary will be achieved. Are records legally required to be kept during a child's nursery education so that the transition to primary can be managed? The primary would clearly benefit from this so that they can assess the children's needs before they arrive, but is it enshrined in law?

Regards

There's confusion over how CofE is delivered generally to be honest, lol.

My primary expererience is a few years old now, but, my DC attended nursery attached to a primary school - in that case the nursery is treated as a class within the school. Teachers come from the rest of the school fairly regularly and their records are continous.

Schools I've been in with seperate feeder nurseries - the nurseries send records up a few months before, often teachers go down a few times the term before the summer holidays to meet children and assess them, children are often invited up to the scho for events as well.

I don't know about legally offhand, but it's standard practice to keep records and to pass them on during the transition.

Though I only have experience with state nurseries.
