There are quite a few good ones in Skipton, where exactly are you looking, Skipton itself or surrounding areas?

Hi, my DS started this year at Embsay primary, its just to the North of Skipton and he is really enjoying it. Have a look at the league tables and the reports on the schools. It may be worthwhile considering secondary schools also if you have some flexibility on where you live, North Yorks retained the grammer school system but West Yorks didn't.

bigjoeent, North Yorkshire doesn't have a grammar system and there are only two towns with grammars - Skipton and Ripon (Ripon has 70 boarding places though). In West Yorkshire there are only three grammars so really neither have a grammar system. I would say in general North Yorkshire has better schools. Do you have to be on the Skipton side of Leeds? If not I would strongly consider the Tadcaster area as there is a very good secondary and primaries around there. Also if you head further south to Kirklees (around Hudd area) there are fab secondaries (Heckmondwike Grammar, Holmfirth, Mirfield). Mirfield and Holmfirth also have very good primaries and there is a fair bit going on round there too.
In Skipton Christ's Church is ofsted outstanding and there are lots of other very good schools in surrounding villages.

Upatdawn (love the name) Aaagh sorry Blush. The Skipton grammars are very good though.

If you are considering village schools, consider the size. A couple of people have mentionned either in connection to their own children or when they went to school that very small schools with few pupils may be limiting in terms of making friends. If they / their child didn't get on well with the other pupils they didn't have many options, in larger schools there are more children and its less likely to happen. .

There are quite a few grammar schools in north yorkshire, and certainly more than 3 in west yorkshire.

This is the list of Grammars in Yorkshire. Two in Halifax, two in Skipton, one in Ripon and one in Kirklees.
