Muswell Hill primaries - question about catchments

We live in the area at the moment, and have a 3 year old. Considering moving to a bigger flat on Onslow Gardens (i.e. opposite Highgate Wood) but am worried that it seems to be just out of the catchments of all the local primaries - seems to be a bit too far from Tetherdown, Muswell Hill, Highgate etc. If anyone lives in or knows the area well and can advise, I would be very grateful! Which primary schools do children who live in this general area (i.e. Onslow/Woodland Gardens, Woodland Rise etc) go to?!
Thanks.

Onslow Gardens is a fab location for the woods and tube, but a potential black hole for schools. Saying that, I do know children from that bit of Muswell Hill who have got into Highgate Primary, St James' (CofE) and Muswell Hill Primary (from a wait list). Whether or not you get in to any of these schools will of course depend on the numbers applying. I'm not sure how stringent the "God" requirement is at St. James'. It would be worth phoning the school to discuss as it is the closest primary school to Onslow Gardens.

St James' is very strict - lots of families attend the church and you see plenty of people driving to the school from miles around. But they also give preference to kids who attend the nursery (from 3 years old) so this would be worthwhile looking in to.

It is a bit of a black hole - St James for churchgoers, quite a lot at Highgate then a mishmash of Muswell Hill and Tetherdown.

You should get into Highgate (and the wait list moves fast even if you don't) but prepare for a possibly bumpy ride! Depends how great the flat is and what your stress levels are like!

I think moving a little bit further north to East Finchley, LB Barnet, makes more sense in the long run. Many good primaries and stunning secondaries including 3 top grammars, and I do mean TOP grammars, in the UK.

High Barnet is cheap, has decent primaries and brilliant secondaries.

Thanks all - sort of confirms what I suspected about that area of MH. V useful.

Why not move after he gets in? Also second whoever suggested moving to finchley as the secondaries are fab!!

Just to muddy the water, but there is a big move to set up a free school in East Finchley as the secondary options aren't good and kids get sent all over borough???

friends in one of those roads send their kids to highgate primary, they moved in a couple of years ago and had no problems getting in. I've heard its a good school.
Their oldest child is now at fortismere, which was the main reason they moved to the area.
