Caterham or Cumnor (Which Big C)

Thinking of moving son from Cumnor and just wanted some incite on Caterham really as this commute is viable from where we live.
Not interested in any of the other private schools, as we have visited them and don't really see them being as good a fit for our son as Caterham possibly could be.
Reason for possible move is, son not particularly sporty and left on the side to watch others during a PE lesson which concerns me, disruptive class (one particular child which the school appear to be doing little about) and we have a girl so think a co-ed school might work better. Plus unsure what the Cumnor girls school will be, as everything is quite new, although all talk is very positive with regards what they want to achieve.
Note: Not just looking for all the good things about Caterham, also want to hear the not so good stuff. This move would be quite big so need to make sure it is for all the right reasons.

Looking at preprep primarily, but do want to know if they properly prepare for grammar schools and whether ability setting is used within the classroom, and if so, at what year group. Also, how are assessments carried out and are results transparent and given as a NC level?

Hoping to get a response soon....

Caterham does "bug busting" each term! Ie the nit nurse!

Obviously, don't know the complete background, but i would go for Caterham - your DS can move to Caterham High (unless this is not an option for you?) Cumnor house - many children (as you probably know) go onto Whitgift but Caterham all-through school. Caterham- sporty but not obviously so. I know you asked to hear about not good stuff about Caterham but all good that I've heard (other than it's not the easiest to get to).

Again thanks for all the lovely responses. Thought I'd update.... Had a word with his teacher regarding the sports issue and maybe my son's version is not quite what might have happened. His teacher was very reassuring and has since unprompted commented on how well son is doing.

In addition, son seems to have an eye for drama, art and music.... Very artistic and this seems to be getting him a lot of attention which he is loving. Still alittle apprehensive though, but since parent's evening, some faith in the school has been restored. With this new focus also on his creative writing and artistic lean, this has also focused my attention on what type of scholarship we should be looking for him in the future. So not gonna stress. We're not all sporty, but just as long as the school operates an inclusive policy during PE, this is good enough .... For now!

Re disruption in the class, I am hopeful, with the yearly shuffle, this will no longer be an issue.... If so a word with the head will be on the cards....lol

Will still visit Caterham as need to find a place for DD as not sure how CHS girls will be by the time DD will be ready to attend.

Also quite like the idea of keeping a foot in different schools.... Might give us a better opportunity of really seeing Caterham in action without taking the chance of moving DS and finding out DS is better off where he is.
