My son's reception teacher hasn't listened to him read in 5 months, but the TA listens to him read once in 10 days. He is a good reader, thanks to the work we do at home. The teacher feels she needs to focus her attention on the less able kids, but I can't believe that in 5 months, she couldn't spare 5 minutes to listen to him read. Am I being unreasonable in thinking this is unfair?
In the course of the week, some kids get listened to twice a week, but as he is last on the list, should there be a special event or teacher/TA absence, it is his reading time that gets sacrificed at school.
