Has anyone done the EasyRead system to help a child with reading difficulties?

I've just started with my DD (age 7) and it seems a good approach with lots of individual back up. It's expensive (although they offer your money back if you're not satisfied) but they also say it will take about 4 months to see any improvement as the program is designed to change the way in which the brain processes reading. So it's the time investment I'm concerned about as well as the oney I'm interested in how they deal with things as they get more complex, and I'd love to hear from anyone who has done it.

here's their website

DD did it.

It didn't work, and they gave me a full refund.

It does work for a lot of kids though.

Hi Indigo. How far along did your DD get with it? Did you see any improvement? I think the visual clues will work well for my DD eg on words like w-or-ld where you need to recognise the -er- sound.

I'm interested in how they are going to tackle distinctions in words like cream and need. Obviously they are going to start off with the same picture sound (Eagle looking regal) as a clue, and then the clue gets dropped. I think the theory is that with practice the alternative spellings become assimilated so the visula clue is no longer needed.

No improvement at all.

There is no more to the program than what you've already seen. Once you've learnt the pictures for the sounds, they place the pictures above the words.

And that's it. There's nothing further to it.

Like you said, the theory behind it is that the stuff gets assimilated.

It does work for some kids. So I really don't want to knock it. However I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
