Gayhurst (Gerrards Cross) for Girls - Thoughts?

Does anyone have an opinion on Gayhurst for girls? Traditionally a boys private school, it has recently become co-ed and I am wondering what everyone's opinion is in relation to quality of teaching, comparison to next door (Maltmans) etc...Many thanks in advance.

I have a boy and a girl at gayhurst. My daughter has not been there that long but I can say she has settled in very well and really enjoys it. I did debate the whole maltmans school etc and can not comment on that school specifically but I decided on Gayhurst as I believe my daughter would gain far more form a co - ed school. The classes are small and the number of girls defiantly needs to increase but this will gradually happen over time. Until recently I don't think the school has promoted the fact that they are now taking girls very well, but they have just launched a new web site and i think this will help them. If you were to ask my daughter about the school i know she would rave about it. She has made some great girl friends but does love playing a bit of football and joking with the boys at playtime. The school is building a new pavilion at the moment and we are under the impression it will facilitate activities such as ballet lessons for the girls. The school has been hosting a coffee morning once a term for the mums of "girls" or parents who want to possible send girls to gayhurst so you should come along to the next one!

Hi cuckoo, that's really good to hear. Do you mind me asking what year they are in? My son is on the waiting list for reception for ages now (fingers crossed for my Sept) and my daughter (just turned 2), if we send her, will go to nursery in Sept of next year. When's the next coffee morning, I'll take you up on that!

Hi Cuckoo. My son has got into Gayhurst! Means that I will consider it for my daughter for sure. I missed the coffee morning due to work, do you know when the next one is? Take care

Sorry to reignite this old thread, but I have the same question re girls at Gayhurst. Does anyone have any experience positive or otherwise that could help us make a decision?
Have read some comments on academic suitability, do you think the school would suit a child who is quite strong academically and needs challenge to thrive?
Is co-ed likely to be better environment than an all-girls school like High March or Maltmans. Have heard so much on the 'attitude' of the latter, it really does put us off! Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
