I'm a lot friendlier with DD1's friends' mums than DD2's and it's upsetting her

They are twins, they are in year 6 and for some reason I have clicked with mums in DD1's class a lot more over the years, who have now become close friends that me and DH socialise with.

I do have mum friends in DD2's class but on a more casual basis, I can't think of any that we socialise with, other than the usual class nights out etc.

DD2 has suddenly got a bee in her bonnett about this. But not sure what i can do, that is just the way it has worked out. She's been begging me to invite certain mums for coffee or an evening over at ours with a takeaway but I keep explaining that I haven't 'clicked' with them in that way like the others and this isn't something you can force.

Any ideas? This is surely quite common? Or am I a complete cow, which DD2 likes to think!

How old is she? (year six means nothing to me!)

I don't think there's anything you can do about it and it's not really any of your Dd's business who you are friends with!

They are nearly 11. That's what I think too, none of her business. But I suppose when DD1's friends turn up with their parents for an evening or we go out somewhere, DD2 feels it a bit, even though they are in the same year and know the same kids.

My son is y6 and my daughter is in y4. I click with her friends' mums more than his. He is fiercely competitive with his sister but it's not something that he's asked me about. He knows that I may like his friend a lot but only be on polite terms with his mum and that just because I'm friends with a mum he doesn't have to be friends with the child.(I expect him to be polite and friendly )

I'd just say to your dd that you don't force friends on her (imagine if she had to be friends with x, Y and Z)so she shouldn't do the same to you. It's not personal and maybe the situation will be different in secondary school- who knows?
