Mathletics question

Apologies if this has been asked before.

My DD (Y3) came home last week with mathletics homework, with tasks set by the teacher. This consisted of addition like 1+1, 4+6, 3+2 etc. When I asked the teacher about it she said it was to build up speed.

Is it usual to set such simple homework on mathletics? My DD2 (Y1) was answering the questions over her shoulder! It just seems too simplistic and I wondered if this was normal?

Thanks

I think it's to make them build up speed, enjoy it and gain confidence, but also to make sure all the bases are covered. Doesn't do any harm to let them feel good at something. Smile

They generally start a little easier than you can do, then build up speed. Like Kumon.

Mathletics is always to easy. I had my son moved up two age groups, but it still seemed more a test of typing speed than maths. Far from convinced about the whole thing, although they do enjoy it.
