Hi all,

Could someone explain to me the importance of ks2 results. I understand that the national average is level 4 and around 25-35% get 5's. How important are they? Do they use them to set children in secondary school. If they use them to predict future grades what would say a level 4 or 5 be predicted etc.

Thanks in advance.

Well, we add MFL too, but generally the higher up the school you go the more there is to cover, so more genres in Literacy, more areas in maths, more objectives for each level, more boxes to tick!

But the same subjects and usually a slightly longer school day than KS1

So, just to clarify the above. Is there a lot more work to cover to go from a level 2-3 than 1-2 & similarly then is it an even bigger step to go from a 3-4? I mean more actual boxes to tick, both content & concept wise?

I know it's supposed to take 4 years (on average,) to move from level 2 to 4. And therefore if a dc starts year 3 at level 3, would it still usually take them 2 years to reach a level 4, as thats how long its supposed to takes an average student at this age to go up 1 level (the assumption is that they'd stay above average but following the same curve iyswim)?

In KS2 each child is supposed to make 2 full levels of progress - regardless of their starting point (with some exceptions for kids working below level 1 )

So L1 - L3, L2 - L4, L3 - L5, L4 - L6

Joyn that isn't quite true ( however level 2 to level 3 is a huge leap compared to other levels)
