Fundraising Ideas Please....

My DS1 School is raising funds for a new playground, as theirs is very old and dilapidated now.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

What do your DC's Schools do to raise funds?

It's quite a small School, only about 200 pupils, if that makes any difference to suggestions.

Thanks.

Do you run discos? A christmas Fair? A christmas raffle? TBH you've probably missed the boat a tad now re Christmas events, so start in the new year. Quiz night? Fun run?

We normally make about £1000 on a quiz night. Tickets £10 each which include Fish and Chips in the interval, plus hefty bar take. We have teams of 6 and we have space for 15 teams so it is a good money maker. Also our Christmas fair just made more than usual by sending raffle tickets home in the childrens book bags to sell - £10 worth each. (They don't have to sell them all).
We have also this year done Christmas cards designed by the children which made a profit of about £450, last year they did tea towels. Cake sales make on average £150 with donated cakes sold at 30p each or 4 for £1.
This year we are trying a circus, which is new for us but looks like it should be a good fundraiser.
The summer fair is normally the biggest fund raiser of all.

Family photography: 10 min slots for a tenner with a professional photographer at the school, organised by PTA.

Greetings cards: have received printed cards from friends which the children have obviously done at school, then had them professionally printed.

Sponsored something: read/walk/silence?

Music Magpie?
Get parents to bring as many old, shaming Cd's as they can and they will pick them up and give money. Sometimes it's as low as 30p per CD, but it all adds up and some get £3 or more.

Raffles, fairs, jumble sales, book sales.

Cake making competition, then sell the cakes - but auction any truly spectacular ones separately. We did this at a fair recently, and were astounded by amounts raised by parents bidding for cakes! Mind you, wouldn't have worked 5 years ago...suspect its a reflection of the changes in cohort.

Easyfundraising is a winner, if people actually use it (I do).

1 thing my school did for the first time is collecting loose change - we did for this for Children in Need -
ATM we are collecting 5ps (over the Christmas Holidays) children are then bringing them in to have a 5p stacking competition!
