My dd is in reception and on Friday had to be dragged outside by the TA to meet me and was very stroppy. She explained that she loves school so very much that she wants to sleep there... Xmas Grin. We agreed that as there were no beds or blankets in her classroom it may be best for her to come home with me after all...
I am dreading the holidays.

My 6 year old (year 2) hates school holidays, last year there was really bad snow and we got to school on the first day back after Xmas to find the school closed and loads of kids in tears begging to go to school!

south Awww, poor little things... Smile Amazing that children would rather go to school than play in the snow!

My dd also loves her school uniform and is very cross that she is supposed to wear her own clothes on Monday for their Christmas party.
I expected a lot of problems with my summer born dd but she's loved every minute of it so far. I wonder how many children really do love school and if I have a warped view from reading all the MN threads on problems in primary education...

my DD was like this throughout KS1, she would mooch around in the holidays asking how many sleeps until she went back to school, and telling me how much more fun it was at school than at home. The tables seem to have turned since she went into the juniors, though Smile.

DS wants to stay to after school club, but I suspect this is because his current favourite classmate goes most days, and it is a special "den" in the basement which he has never been in. He also refuses to take off his uniform until bedtime, which suits me as it saves on laundry.

expecto I'd better make the most of it then... Smile

We had a little boy in Reception whose parents took him out of school for a weeks holiday. I asked him was he looking forward to it and his teacher was behind him shaking her head at me and mouthing "Don't mention it!".
Apparantly he'd told her he wasn't going and wanted to stay at her house instead and he would only go if she came with him Smile

Lemon My dd would be the same... Smile. I am trying to tell her gently that she has three weeks off over Christmas. She thinks that despite the excitement of Christmas that is just not on!

Isn't it great that they've settled so well and actually enjoy school? Course it won't last you know! Wink
