Recommendations for child's anatomy and physiology book?

DD is nearly 6. She is constantly bombarding me with questions (as they do at that age). Normally I look up google to answer them. Lately she has been asking a lot of body related questions about why our arms and legs move, why do we wee and poo and about skulls and brains. They are not doing this in school as this term's science topic is planets, moon and stars. Now I can answer these body questions without google but not at a level a 5 year old child is going to understand. I tried to explain how our arms and legs move and ended up talking about the myelin sheath and nerve impulses while DD stared at me blankly Blush
So does anyone know of a good book about anatomy and physiology suitable for a child? Even one aimed at a couple of years older as even if DD does not understand the explanation it would probably give me an idea at how to explain it.

Usborne does a good one

We have the Usborne ones too. (Usborne beginners and Usborne Look Inside..) Bodies are a popular topic for children's information books.

I am no doctor so am happy to be corrected by those in the know but in the case of movement I think a simple answer is to explain how we have bones (like a skeleton) and muscle and ligaments on top which help bones which are next to each other move. My children's body books have pictures of a human skeleton as well as a skeleton covered with muscles and ligaments.

Thanks I will try the Usborne ones. DD cut her knee today and another child had a nosebleed and she wanted to talk blood. crazygracieuk I got carried away when explaining movement and had the plug out to represent the brain and the electric cable to represent how the signals go down from the brain. DD of course knows nowt about electricity so was baffled. I know nowt about electricity so could not answer her electricity based questions Confused

Would be so much easier if the body was her science topic. I could just do my usual 'great question, your teacher would be really happy you thought up that question so better if you waited and asked her'

we have the usborne one too.

dd2 had an entire series of night terrors based solely upon it. Grin after some months we worked out she was screaming 'the man with no skin is chasing me!'

it is good though. but you might possibly want it to keep it away from highly strung younger siblings. Wink
