Anyone know any fun number games?

I have just come to realise that my DS (Y1) is not as good at recognising his numbers as I first thought.

He seems to lack confidence and if he thinks too much he can get confused and not be able to identify numbers past 6.

He loves playing on the computer and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any games that would help with his number recognition?

I looked at BBC bitesize, but they were looking at numbers past 20 and I think we need to work on the basics first.

Thanks

Have a look at Woodlands website. It's a school but has a brilliant homework help site which lots of people use. What about any fun board games which might also help with counting ?

Its not a computer game, but Buggo is a fun board game where you count bugs. (Its even not too painful to play for adults :) )

Have you spoken to his teacher? Is she concerned?

Sounds like he needs extra support for maths in school......

Look at Crickweb - great for all sorts of Home Ed.

Thanks everyone.
I have just done some games on the top marks site and he loved them.

He had to sequence the numbers 12, 6, 14, 9 and 17 and he could put them in order with no trouble, but he couldn't name them.

He can count and do one more than and simple sums, but he cannot name numbers and cannot point to number 18 if I asked him to.

If he has a number track he can count up and then name them, but I would have thought he would be able to recognise and name the numbers by now?

Are my expectations too high?

Does he have any other 'word finding' difficulties?

Ie are there other words he can't remember. If you taught him a new word would he be able to use it in a sentence the next day?

He should be able to name numbers up to 10 by now.

Yes - his vocabulary is very good.
He can sounds out his alphabet and can use his phonics knowledge to sound out and write words.

His reading is not great. He is getting there, but he is still on the first level for reading.

The numbers he has difficulty with are: 6,7,8,9 and anything over 10.

I am going to keep going with the computer games as he does enjoy them and they are a stress free way of getting him to practice his numbers.
