Can anyone help me find a solution. As I wrote yesterday... I want to keep my twins out of school until April (when they turn five). The school were amenable until they discovered that if the kids are not on the roll in January they loose funding for the year for both places.
I am in a difficult position. I have plans for the next four months, including two trips, and do not wish my children to attend school now. I do not think it is in their best interests. It is my legal right not to send them. Yet I do not wish to deny our school funding. (I realise that this could happen to a school if someone dropped out mid year or filled a space late etc, but this is an oversubscribed school with a long waiting list... this would not happen). The school needs the money and although I shouldn't be pressurised I also do not want to unintentionally shaft my children's prospective school.
Is there a solution? Or a compromise? If I suggest the kids go three days a week until they turn five what does that mean for the yearly funding? Will the school just get two thirds funding for the rest of the year? Is the funding calculated on their status in one particular day in January - what if their status changes after that date? And how much money are we talking about?
