he's chosen Victorian Sport
he's supposed to spend 30min a week
he times himself , stops working after exactly 30 min and gets me to sign his homework diary
he's done a title page , and two very sparse bits of writing/drawing.
His will be the one the teachers comment and say 'clearly no parental input here then' which is good and bad I suppose

I really don't think it's worth me badgering him .
Think they should hand out happy pills to parents when they give projects as homewrok

Do not help them with project work. It's a schools way out of setting proper homework. My daughter went to a top rated state primary and the only homework she had was projects. No maths, no English, the teachers were too busy filling forms to get their Ofstead status to actually set some decent homework.

He still has weekly spellings and timetables but I will follow your orders Smile

he sounds as though he's doing great! timing himself, and having actually produced work (however sparse)?
that's amazing. ds1 is yr5 and would have nothing to show at all until the night before, when he would schedule his breakdown.

he's learning some great lessons about time planning and effort. fantastic.

madwomanintheattic really?? I do have to tell him to do the 30 mins , he would also think about it last minute otherwise.

i think it's brilliant, honestly.

he times himself to do the amount he's supposed to? even if he's reminded, he's willing to sit himself down and get on with it for the allocated time?

he's building some really important study skills there. honestly.
