Does anyone know if you can get ORT (Biff, Kipper etc) read at home books but for level 6 upwards??

Hi

DS(yr2) has the read at home ORT level 1-5 books but now wants the next ones as for some odd reason he loves these books Hmm

Our local library don't stock them and while he is happy to read other books from the library its these blasted Biff & Kipper ones he likes the most

He is on level 8 atm.

TIA

Hi the ORT ones dont go beyond these if you get Read at Home. You could get the ones they use in schools. Most bookshops have them and they go to about level 10 i think

How about these?

Iamnotminterested · 02/11/2011 19:38

ORT go to level 16.

((shudders))

Perhaps leave him with biff and chip and treetops - though I notice their publicity blurb emphasises the illustration:
Written and beautifully illustrated ....
but in year 2 there's also a wealth of wonderful books to read to him.

thanks, we have the level 10+ ones already. Although don't think he is quite ready for that level as he struggled at bit with the first one.

Will look at the treetop ones though thanks!!!

He is got a few good books from the library (nothing to do with the dreaded Biff & Kipper etc) but he gets irrationally excited when he gets a new reading book from school (although they seem rather slow in changing them Hmm)

Unfortunately DD(3) is also going the same way and seems to love them too

if you have younger dc that will continue to benefit from these books after your eldest has outgrown them then they're even more of a bargain. i bought a box set of levels 1-6 last year at £25 for 48 books, on the official ORT site they're over £30 per level or £3.99 each :O

simpson · 02/11/2011 22:20

I have those ones too and tbh that was my thinking. DD(3) is just starting on them (recognising the characters, pointing out letters iyswim)

I don't mind buying good books for DS as DD will use them too.

When both kids have finished with them I will either donate them to DC school or am sure a friend will use them Grin

I have just got the treetops ones with the 15% off (ta!!!) and will keep them for a Christmas pressie Grin

Definitely :) great minds think alike, and if your dc are anything like mine they'll be chuffed to receive it. The site is superb value glad you found it useful.

Have you tried the reading tree website? www.oxfordowl.co.uk - you can read the books online, and they go above level 6 xx

Iamnotminterested · 03/11/2011 16:12

OK, bit of an admission here, I bought DD3 a box a while ago to use whenever she is ready, something like £2.50 for 17,000 of the buggers, but I can't for the life of me remember where I put them; Don't know whether to Blush or Grin!

simpson · 04/11/2011 21:38

I have loads of stage 1-5 and then 10-12

Just nothing in the middle
