Expected progress end of year 2 - first term of year 3?

As the title suggests.

Teachers, would you expect children to be on roughly the same levels now as they were at the end of year 2? Asking because we have parents evening next week and want to be fore-warned really.

Thankyou!

Yes, you would expect there to be no progress yet.

Thanks IndigoBell. My DC's school do not give out sub-levels of a level 3 at the end of year 2 so i will probably be none the wiser:

"So, she was a 3, is she still a 3?"

"Yes"

"Sub-level?"

"Not school policy to divulge"

Etc etc...

If she was a level 3 at end of Y2, she could be doing well and still be a level 3 at the end of Y3.

But you however will know if her reading and writing has improved. Is she reading harder / longer / more complicated books than she was a year ago? Is her writing better?

You don't need school levels to know how she's doing......

Levels are huge lumps. It can take 2 years to go up 1 level.

I agree with you Indigo but sometimes it's nice to have hard facts to back up what you assume. Yes she is great at literacy in general, good at maths. I want sub-levels because of my other DC's lack of progress in an area and I don't think it unreasonable of me to request them in light of our experience with DC1.
