Is this normal ratio wise?

Hello just a quick question my DD has started reception this year and I was surprised that in a class of 30 children , only two members of staff. The class teacher and teaching assistant. Does this apply in all schools?

This was the ratio in my sons reception class.

The legal ratio is one teacher to 30 children, you might think yourself lucky there is a TA too!

Yes it is normal - In dds' school TA time reduces as they get older too. In reception Teacher plus full time TA. In Year 1 teacher plus 2 TAs for 3 classes. In Yr 2 Teacher plus 1 TA for 3 classes.....

Yes, that is absolutely normal. As spanieleyes says the TA is not required legally. In some schools you will find infant classes of 30 children with just one teacher.

Thanks everyone. Just a bit of a shock when used to seeing more staff at nursery.

The difficulty Reception classes have is in trying to run the same type of curriculum as Nursery with half the staff!
