Getting on/off school bus and getting into/out of school

Does your school do any supervision of the children getting off the school bus and into school at the beginning of the day and again at home time? Not overly impressed with our schools process and wondering what happens elsewhere.

We only have secondary school buses round here? Are you in a rural area?

primary? yes, TA meets the bus outside the school, escorts the children into the playground and watches them until the doors open. At the end of the day the children are checked and seen onto the bus by either the head or another teacher. Small primary (100ish kids), with bus going to next village - maybe 20 kids at any one time?

Its a primary school, with around 1000 pupils in a city suburb. There are 4 buses. 1 staff member watches children disembark and see they walk in the direction of the playground. The children are unsupervised until allowed into school. At home time p1's are supervised onto bus from classroom. I wish they were supervised until the doors were open.

My 5yo goes to school on a bus. There is a supervisor who helps the children into their seats, does their seat belts up, etc. Teachers take it in turns to take them from the school hall to the bus at home time and from the bus to the playground (distance f about 2 meters!) in the morning. Tiny rural school, max 14 pupils on the bus (but rarely that many in practice).

At hometime the bus children go into the hall and are escorted by a teacher to the bus but in the morning they are dropped off outside the school gate and make their way in unsupervised. You would think nothing could go wrong because its really close but I found a YR child wandering the wrong way up the road at the beginning of the school year last year.

Thanks! I think its probably the size of our school which complicates it. They'd probably need more than 1 woman to escort them to the playground. I just think its crap to let 5 year olds wander about and its putting me off using the bus.

Yes allday that's the type of thing that concerns me. Who has the duty of care do you think when you opt to use the bus?
