National curriculum

Aaaaaaages ago, there used to be the national curriculum on a site (I think it was the official one, but I cant seem to find it!) that had who does what when and was more specific than the general '^5. Pupils should be taught to select from their knowledge of history and
communicate it in a variety of ways^'

And had things like they will learn about Nightingale as a famous person etc.

Has anyone got any idea what the hell I am talking about? I have confused myself! [hconfused]

That sounds like a particular school's long term planning. The National Curriculum History program of study only states that children need to learn about significant men/woman from the past. The schools can choose which person they study, though Florence Nightingale is a popular choice!

Schools can choose which areas they study when as well, so that whilst school A might do Romans in Y3, Ancience Egypt in Y4, WWII in Y5 and Tudors in Y6-school B might do this in a completely different order.

It was archived when Rose Review curriculum was published and since that was cancelled many schools are going their own way. It was never compulsory but many school used it, even Katie Morag
