assessment papers in reception year

my dd has just done some assessment papers, she is at the end of reception year. Teachers wont discuss the scores but said that she has done very well. all i know are papers are English and maths, and last about 10 mins.

can anyone shed some light on firstly where to find a copy of these papers? how important they are? and how many questions each paper has?

just want to know how dd is doing really.

Could be anything. Teachers are constantly assessing the children so they know where they're at. It's just all part of it. So they can teach effectively.
You know, from what the teacher said that your DD is doing well.
Did your DD have to read the questions? And write the answers? - if so she really is doing well.

Papers is reception! Not a clue and I must confess that does sound a little odd. Is it state or private?

paisely- no teachers read out question then children fill in gap on their answer sheet.

abigails- its private, but surely state school asess children too before they go on to year 1.

State school's assess by ongoing observation in Reception. It seems very odd to make them do a "written paper". Certainly in DD's Reception class a majority of children would struggle to write answers to verbal questions.

+*Our5 reception have just done some minitests in formal-looking booklets.
One reading, one maths. Seemed to be a lot of Teacher read the question, child ring or match the picture to the answer. Counting and arithmetic skills, cvc and simple sentences. Only caught a glimpse, it's not my end of school.
Like a simpler version of the Y2 tests.

Sounds awful. Teachers assess them all the time surely???

They seem to do continuous assessment continuously, with a lot of photographic evidence and note-taking whilst the children are playing and doing activities.
