I swear that my DC's school must have got through several trees over the last few weeks with the amount of stuff that has been sent home, and my, ahem, "Filing system" means that some have got lost or chucked away by mistake.

Just wanted a rant, really, before I plough through the pile needed by tomorrow. Grrrrrr.

hate it to, i wonder why they can't do an online thing, surely it would make their lives better too for collating information and seeing who hasn't replied etc.

our school letters are sent on email and trips are paid for online already-surely it could be done.

Well, although I like the look of the site, it isn't free - and budgets are v. tight. So that might be a reason.

Strumpypumpy · 21/06/2011 21:35

No not free, but the cost of printing and paper, not to mention storage of paper etc has to be taken into account. The benefit of every parent clicking and paying for a trip instantly is felt by the school. The admin staff don't need to sound much time chasing parents for money!

Feenie · 21/06/2011 21:38

Ha - admin staff!

Interesting comments, thankyou. I too like receiving the weekly newsletter and the student's paper and PTA updates, don't get me wrong, but the office staff were having a bit of a moan too about their workload the other day re; permission slips/excess letters home.

What are admin staff?

RoadArt · 22/06/2011 20:22

Parent Volunteers!

ragged · 23/06/2011 10:46

Same as Euphemia; one set of forms at start of year and not much after that. We're in Norfolk; one of the few good things the (relatively new) head has done.

lovecheese · 23/06/2011 13:28

The office staff that i referred to are exactly that, two ladies who are employed full-time in the main office.

What's so unusual about that?

OP posts:
Feenie · 23/06/2011 15:49

Our part time office staff (two) are too busy with other admin work to chase up slips/trip money. It's the same in most schools, tbh.

What are classroom assistants? [puzzled]

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 23/06/2011 22:13

Our classroom assistants are far too busy covering classes and taking groups. Teachers do admin, prepare for trips, etc. In fact, assist the classroom assistants. Am planning to train children for admin jobs.

mrz · 24/06/2011 17:28

Still wonders what a classroom assistant is [more puzzled]
