DS1 (8yrs) starts at new school in September and needs grey trousers (and shorts). My mother in law has very kindly offered to buy all uniform, so budget is not an issue. Has anyone got any top-tips of who does the nicest grey trousers - decent cut, pleasant fabrics?
His current uniform trouser is lovely thick navy cord and, as I have the luxury of no budget, would like to find him something of similar comfort and quality.

I think they're all very similar. I usually buy M&S but have found the sizes to be quite small. My not yet 10 year old son has already grown out of his age 10 trousers! Mind you his last two have have holes in the knees due to him skidding across the yard on his knees.

Bear in mind that they will be used heavily but I would check out: M&S, Next as well as Asda and Tesco.

Have to say I'm not keen on M&S jumpers - I found Asda's to be better. They've lasted longer.

IMO next is the best in its price range and I don't think there is anything to be gained by spending more.

I agree - in my experience they wear them out before they ever grow out of them.

M&S polo shirts - small. Asda polo shirts - big! Go cheap and buy more 'cos they'll wreck them.

I like the adjustable waists you get at M&S and John Lewis. I haven't tried the supermarkets but am sure someone can tell you if they have waists you can shrink and expand.

I go for shorts all year apart from Dec thru Easter. His knees keep growing back and it cuts out the wear and tear on the clothing!!

I have found that the M&S trousers are the only ones where the hems don't come down. I also think the fit is lovely and they don't go bobbly.

M & S or John Lewis as they both used to do trousers with the slit pockets on the back. Plus John Lewis has a variety of waist sizes.
Hope your DS enjoys his new school.
