Pre-prep/Prep schools SW19 (Wimbledon Park)

DS1 is in year 1 at a local primary school.

We're thinking about moving him to private prep school when he is 8.

Would prefer co-ed.

Any recommendations?

A lot of the schools (Rowans, Wimbledon Common Prep) stop at 8, whereas we'd like a prep school that goes to 11/13.

Hope to go to a few open days in May/June to see what is out there.

Thanks in advance...

The Hall School? I don't know much about it, just that it is co-ed and it is the only one I can think of which is off the top of my head. I shall ponder further and be back.

Thanks! The junior section of the school is in Putney I think.

As we both work I'm wondering if these schools have school buses? Guess I should email the schools directly....

Eeeek. Yes, I've just remembered. I don't think I've ever seen a school bus with their name on it, to be honest.

It's the co-ed thing which has rather thrown me - there just aren't that many, are there?

Willington is an option but boys only (isn't a huge problem if he/we like the school).

Kings? Donhead? Both boys only, of course.

I know Felton Fleet bus in from Wimbledon, its a long way out but has lovely facilities although it's not the most academic. Although Surbiton Prep is all boys they do mix with the girls a bit - have DD in year 3 and they join up for some events. Milbourne Lodge in Esher may run a bus from you area as well, but it is mostly boys with just a sprinkling of girls.
Boys schools Rokeby for everything, Shrewsbury House if he is sporty, Kings College if very bright. You could also look at Kingswood House and Woodfield as they may run buses from your area.
What are your intentions for senior school? You could look at which schools feed into there and that would give you a good starting place.
Good luck, you are in a very single sex school dominated area.

Update - we've gone for Willington. Very impressed by the Headmaster and the boys we met. DS's very impressed by the uniform too!

(didn't like The Halls, but that's another thread!)
