I don't want to go back to school

Have daughter year 2, who has spent most of the Easter holiday fretting about going back to school. Is this temporary? How seriously should I take it? Any advice really welcome.

My DD used to do this after a long holiday, especially after the summer holidays when she was going to have a new teacher and was all nervous about having a new teacher, who she would be sitting next to, etc.

Have you asked her whether there is anything specific that she's worried about?

I always found that if I didn't make too big a fuss of the nerves, and stayed jolly and encouraging, by the time DD had had one day back at school she couldn't wait to go back again. Smile

See how she is after a couple of days.
If she still doesn't like school then you must get to the cause of the problem
Speak to her about the problem and/or speak to the teacher or head.

jolly and encouraging is a very good idea

"Come on, Jimmy, you have to get out of bed or you'll be late for school."
"Mum, do I have to? The teachers don't like me and all the kids make fun of me"
"Yes, you do."
"Give me one good reason."
"Because you're 52, and you're the Headmaster."
