Hi!

So I understand that in year 2 they typically take key stage 1 sats right? and that these sats are graded a, b & c.

But where I'm confused is that I understand my daughter undertook a level 3 assessment paper for english. So, am I right in presuming that within key stage 1 sats they're are varying levels of papers they can take ie, 1, 2 & 3 say?

Argghhh I just want to understand this and didn't get the chance to speak to her teacher at all. Is there a brilliant link that explains all this? If she's capable of doing this then great, but I'd hate for her to be pushed and then put off.

thanks for any help you can give x

I think that the expectation is that they should be working at level 2 with a 2a being top of the level. So if she's working at level 3 then she's doing really well.

This is my understanding from SATs meetings anyway.

The tests just give a mark of 2c/b/a (a being the highest) or 3 (no letters)

Hi and thanks everyone for your replies... so the actual test is the same ie all year 2 but within that they are graded 1-3 and a-c - brilliant and thanks so much.

I think I misunderstood a bit and thought she was being given a different paper (ie level 3) rather than being marked as such. I'm sure she's really capable but just maybe (wrongly) I'm anxious that if what she was doing was a lot harder that it could impact negatively if she found it tricky

hope that makes sense and thanks so much for all your replies x
