Teachers/anyone: how do I get hold of the New Framework online?

About to embarrass myself here. Former teacher but last in a classroom in 2004. I've recently started tutoring a few children, but although I'm aware that my old Numeracy and Literacy Strategy blue files are now obsolete, I can't get hold of the new framework! Is there a way to order a hard copy?

I am useless at finding things online. The best I have come up with is a broad overview/summary, but it looks nothing like the objectives and examples in the old framework.

I'm teaching a year 2 child and a reception aged child and using the objectives and examples from my old files - is the new framework vastly different, or more or less similar?

thankyou.

The new framework isn't new and it's due to go offline in June! There will be an archived site apparently. It's never been a very user friendly site, to say the least.

Start with the overview for Y2 here, then look at individual units - you should find an overview if it's a unit matched in the old strategy, and if it's asterixed you will find prior learning info, objectives, a detailed teaching sequence and assessment information. To look at all of the Y2 objectives, see here.

Tbh, most schools have either moved away from this entirely and gone back to the NC or use the units as a starting point, often linking Literacy to creative/thematic cross-curricular work (but in a meaningful way, not like in the bad old days with tenuous links everywhere).

HI Feenie
Why is the curriculum going offline in June?
Is there a new curriculum replacing it?
... Just being nosey!!!

Feenie · 15/04/2011 09:17

Well, it was never statutory, and didn't replace the NC. There will be a new curriculum to replace it in 2013.

thanks Feenie, sorry about the delayed response -only just tuned in again. Well it's good to know that most schools are using the National Curric. this means that I'm still on track with the kids that I tutor and not doing the wrong thing. Also, I had no idea that it was never statutory.
Thanks for the links.
