Does anyone know what score you need to achieve a level 2a in ks1 SAT reading paper?

It varies depending on the year's test the school has opted to do. Somewhere between 20 and 24 from the ones in my cupboard.
But the test is only a small part of the assessment used to come to End of Key Stage One levels. Your child might get the right number of points on the single test paper to be a 2A, but be assessed at 2B foe the end of year level, as this is the level that the other assessments identify.

So how many to achieve a level 3? And AbigailS what marking criteria is it that you mention? Is it benchmarking? Thanks.

Do you know the score you need for 2a in the 2005 reading paper?

I've only got the 2005 mark scheme at home but the mark is 20 -27 for a 2A
and 17 - 26 for a level 3

I'm sorry, I don't understand that mark scheme. How come you need more marks for 2A and how come there the levels for 2A and 3 overlap?

mrz · 17/03/2011 18:25

There are different tests for level 2 and 3

Got it!

Are the levels we report; but a word of warning... unpicking what the statements look like with a real, life child is complex and has lead to many heated debates at our school. Also what the bit at the top of level 2 in some reading and level 3 in most reading really mean. How much is some?

Forgot to say we do both the test (comprehension paper) and the task with most of ours, because I like the task best - one-to-one reading time with a chance to discuss book, etc, but the LA prefer us to do the test! I then need to take a balanced look at both, and decide which reflects the child's skills best. Some don't cope well in the comprehension test, others score over-highly as in level 2 there are multiple choice and some kids just get lucky with multiple-guess

Thanks for the information.
