I was keen for my DC to go there but didn't get in, so took a place at it's other sister school, which I was assured provided the same level of education. I was very unhappy with it and took my child out at the end of yr2. But, I have lots of friends who are very happy indeed with RPPS. Just don't let them slide you over to their other, less established site if you don't make the cut for the heavily over-subscribed RPPS.

A word of warning, the fees have been going up very rapidly, over and above the rate of inflation (for both schools, as they are the same fees, same uniform etc both sites.) The owners of the schools are looking for a site for a senior school and the belief amongst many parents is that they are being heavily topped up on everything imaginable financially, as the schools company is lining its coffers in readiness for the costs of opening a new school.

One of my concerns before leaving was that if they are opening a senior school they will want to ensure that all the students, especially the brightest stay with them and therefore, would I trust them to prepare them well enough for external exams to other top schools. My feeling was not.

Just things to look out for and ask about.

Interesting. Is this school definitely going ahead?

That makes sense. They are advertising for a new head. The headteacher who is the founder of both schools must be off to start the new one. I'm surprised as what I have heard on the grapevine is that Kew Green prep is no way as established as Ravenscourt Park and the 11 results are not that great yet.

No he moved up to the head role from deputy when the owner/head moved over to the new school in Kew. Now she is leaving there, I believe to focus on their group expansion plans.

We have two children at RPPS and have been very very happy there.
Prices are by now rather steep, and yes there is the feeling that we are paying for the new school buildings.
But my children very happy and doing very well there!

Hi

We are thinking of RPPS too.

Does anyone know what it is like for new parents - is it friendly? I have heard it can be a bit competitive at the school gates...

Thanks

Steer clear of Kew Green Prep. It really is a terrible sham of school, just a living brochure to pull in new children. There is an extremely low standard of teaching and quite a bit of bullying. Last years 11+ results were terrible. With many parents v dissatisfied and considering litigation. RPPS however is a fantastic school, full of happy children and parents.

If you want to know what KGPS is like read Rosamund Lupton's book Afterwards!

Just to check jellybean66... where are you getting your quite detailed synopsis of the school from especially your comments on 11+ results???

Angel6 · 12/02/2013 23:13

Hi jellybean66,
Why are you so against Kew green prep? We have been offered a yr5 place for our daughter. hat kind of bullying? More details much appreciated!
thanks
