I would like to buy a collection of fairy tales for my 5-year-old who cannot read yet by himself. I want to read him Little Red Riding Hood and may be Cinderella with beautiful illustrations. I have found this book and wonder what is inside if anyone knows www.amazon.co.uk/Usborne-Illustrated-Fairy-Anthologies-Treasuries/dp/0746075561/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1299590980&sr=1-1

I am also thinking of buying him a collection of Winnie-the-Pooh stories. We have found great Disney animation online. This book www.amazon.co.uk/Winnie---Pooh-Milne/dp/1405223987/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1299591349&sr=1-1 has a nice price but the pictures are not like in the Disney animations. I would like to buy Winnie-the-Pooh but wonder whether these pictures would be appealing to the small kid.

Many thanks!

On the fairy tales one, if you look by the image it says click to look inside. That shows you what the inside of the book is like.

AH, thanks Tourtoise. I like the titles. The pictures are not the sort of pictures we like but the book has lots of stories which we want.

I love Usborne Illustrated books! We've got loads of them and my DC go back to them time and time again. I'm not a Winnie the Pooh fan though

My four-year-old loves the Usborne Fairy Tales book. I don't particularly like the pictures, but he does; however, I think the language is more stretching and the stories better written than most Ladbybird fairy tales. And we all LOVE the original Winnie the Pooh!

Those are the original Winne the Pooh illustrations; I remember them fondly from my own childhood and they are far nicer than the Disney ones IMO.

Thank you for your kind replies. I think I will consider buying the Usborne book but will have to check the Winnie-the-Pooh in the book store. I need to see the illustrations. My kids get very excited by the beautiful illustrations. They love Disney Pooh's Heffalump Movie and I think if I buy them the original book they might not want me to read it. I am not fan of the Disney movies but I must admit that some can be very nice.
