My DD's reading books are changed every Friday. This was fine til recently as it took her a week of practicing most nights to be able to read the book well.
Lately she is whizzing through the books and is already bored with the one she brought home yesterday as it is not challenging her.
Am wondering if i aught to ask for another book on Monday? I dont want to be a pain .
Most of my friends with DC at different schools say the books are changed daily ?
Its not really bothered me before as i thought they must have a reason for doing it this way.
What do you think i should do?

it's fine - the teacher should know that your DD has progressed, but she hasn't realised quite how much, then it's okay to ask for another one.

or go to the library or book shop and pick another one that's a little bit above the level she's reading now.

Just read the friday book over the weekend and then read other books for hte rest of the week. Surely your DD has books at home? You don't have to read the same book all week.

When in this situation with my dd I didn't worry about asking for the school's reading scheme books. Instead we just visited the library or got books from the shelf at home and then recorded every title she read in her reading record book.

This way dd got to read more interesting stories which encouraged her to read more and the teacher could see what she was actually capable of reading and understanding.

If the books for all the children in the class are changed weekly, then just leave things as they are and give your dd home books to read.

Perhaps have a conversation with the teacher about how pleased you are with dd's reading and that you feel she is making good progress.

I would go and investigate the library and look for some other books.

We do reading chest - its a company that sends out 12 or so books a month from their reading level and we do those in addition to the class one.
The school have a policy of only changing reading books once a week!

Similar here in that DD1 now whizzes through her school ORT book (changed weekly)

We've still got all the DDs' baby books (Thats Not My Kitten, Peepo Baby, etc) so we've been getting those out and she's been having a crack at them. Obviously not phonics but they are pretty simple for an early reader plus great fun to reminisce with!

This is in addition to the stories I read the DDs at bedtime each night, DD1 will help out with the words she can decode / recognise.

I would ask them if they have enough books to pop 2 or 3 in her book bag at a time - that way they don't have to change them more frequently, but she still gets books to read. I can be time-consuming to change books, and its often parent helpers who do it.
