Quite literally any information or links would be much appreciated as a Google surf is not turning much up.

It tends to be called "flexi-schooling" if you want to try googling that! It's basically legal, but totally up to the head teacher to decide to allow it. My understanding is that the school still get full funding for the pupil, and they put doen the home schooled time under a code which means its authorised and doesn't cause any problems.

OOoh sounds promising then. Have had many run ins with the head, but DS1 is half way through Year 1 and school report shows he is now behind on every measure having been a good performer at preschool. School is on notice to improve also so I think a day or two a week with me will be more productive than being there.

Will search flexi schooling now thanks - always helps if you know what you are looking for.

Just read that the school will only get part time funding for PT child so that will be a big fat no from the head then :(

It depends. If your child is on the SEN register they have to make 'reasonable accommodations' for him.

If you suggested he went in every morning (when they normally do literacy and numeracy) rather than just several days a week, the plan might work better.

School was very happy with me flexi-schooling my DS temporarily as part of his transition to their school. (OK, actually a bit too happy about us doing that Grin)

If he is 'behind on every measure' you may have to be such a PITA about what are they doing to help him 'close the gap', that they start to think flexi-schooling him is a good idea....
