I am asking for your help. I am training to be a teacher with an interest to work with SEN children. I am doing my final research project and would really appreciate your feedback. The questions are below, as little or as much detail as you want to give, anything is appreciated. They are aimed at primary aged children. A huge thank you to all who spare the time.
How many children do you have that require special educational needs?

Are your children of primary school age? If so please state their age/ages

Please state below the nature of your child?s disability or educational need

Where have you chosen to have your child/children educated? E.g. Mainstream or Special School

Were you happy with the choices available to you and your family?

Are you happy with the final decision you have made for you child?s education? Why?

Do you feel there are more specialist schools needed in your county or borough?

I only need yes/no answers but more info can be given if people wanted to.
The title of my research project is not final yet; but along the lines of: An investigation in to the number of special educational settings available to those chilren who have statements of special educational needs.
Hope this helps.

Are you looking at the whole area of sen supported in all settings or just special schools? Some schools are absolutely superb at supporting sen without making any fuss, asking for labels or demanding statements so make sure that you don't make the assumption that all children with statements need specialist settings - it really does depend on the local authority, their mindset on supporting sen and the individual schools in question.

I am only focusing on children who have statements, I am well aware of all the other children who do not have statements. restrictions on time and number of words can only allow me to focus on one tiny area of the system. In the conclusion I will note all the other considerations, and state that the research doesnot reflect the whole situation.

You don't actually say in your OP that you only want responses from parents of Statemented children - 2 of my children have SEN but neither of them are Statemented, although one was - he's done so well we've given it up.

Also - try reposting this under the SEN topic. There are parents there who wouldn't look at the Primary topic.

Good luck :)
