5 year old lisp

Hi all,

I've got a 5 year old in reception who has a lisp. Whilst in another country he was assessed as needing speech therapy. Am I being unrealistic to expect anything for free here??? He can be totally understood and I am aware that other children in his class are receiving therapy but it is hard for them to communicate clearly. How do I go about getting an assessment here?

Thanks in advance.

p.s I did give his old assessment to his teacher but I've not heard anything from her.

My 7 year old saw a speech therapist for multiple speech issues, none complex. We were told at the time that they wouldn't have done anything with her if she had only one simple issue, like a lisp, because the sounds associated with this are not expected to be perfect until the age of 8. They try to avoid therapy where possible so as not to give the child a complex apparently.
Hope this is useful!
