Any teachers out there who've had success and enjoyment fron introducing an artist's work to their kids and letting them interpret it? Our previous art coordinator has selected Mondrian which doesn't inspire me at all. Am I missing something? Thanks!

depends what you want to achieve? miro, klee, nikki st phalle (sp), mix your own klein blue, cindy sherman? or how about andy warhol, arte povera - so many it really depends on the aspect you wish to focus on?

ninah · 13/02/2011 12:57

for those who find mondrian dull I'd start with one of his representational works eg tree and see how he got there

We're doing Klee to link in with a Houses & Homes topic.
They've enjoyed experimenting with the shapes he used, and we've had some good discussions about various works of his. Many were of the opinion that some of the pictures would look better if hung upside down!

www.easyart.com is good for prints, and has (had?) a good sale on.

snowbobby · 13/02/2011 13:27

Depends on your theme or how the work can link into other areas imo.

Or, is there a local artist you could look at? Perhaps a local exhibition you can visit?

Bronte · 13/02/2011 14:29

mrz thanks for the great link. Would never have known about that!
