Advised by teacher to try this as dd reports that she "hates" maths, is "rubbish" at it (she's not, she's just massively underconfident) and gets easily frustrated and upset when she can't 'get' it straight away

Teacher says dd is working at and is capable of the 'top group' maths - but dd wants to be moved down!

She hates maths and I can so relate to her with this Sad

Anyone come across any good websites?

TIA Smile

Thanks Smile

We do play a lot of card games - like the idea of Monopoly though!

I think she is struggling with how to problem-solve (division and multiplication particularly). I don't think I help much because I look at her 'homework' with an expression akin to this ---> Hmm Or this Confused

She just doesn't see it as fun like she does literacy. She will happily sit for hours writing stories/songs making comics etc

There is no buzz there for her at all, it seems

We have Sum Swamp, available on Amazon, which my DD in Y1 loves. It's a pretty simple concept but uses addition, subtraction and odds / evens. Also Top Trumps (currently High School Musical!) and we work out the higher number / difference between the numbers etc. Also have a look in WHSmiths as we got a few maths workbooks in there which look more like puzzle books (and is how we refer to them at home...!)

There have been lots of posts recently with lots of good recommendations.

Alternatively, if you search KS2 maths you will find lots of good links

backing, backing and more backing, lots of math to be had. let her pick what she wants to make and when she finds her faverot get her to make doubel or 3 times the amount and she can then give to her frends. you get the idea. Also simpel woodwork if your up for it, carbored models if your not, dolls house furnitur covered in fabric and so on. find the math in real life and do fun stuff, not work sheets. good luck.
