Going private - do I need to tell the LEA?

My DS has a place at our local Prep starting in Reception in September. I therefore didn't complete an LEA application.

I am guessing that they will then be in touch, as I haven't submitted an application and give me the opportunity to tell them we're going private? Or do I automatically get allocated a state place that I then have to turn down and explain why? Or do I have to proactively tell someone at the LEA?

Am a bit clueless as you can see Confused.

No your private school provides the LEA with a list of the registered children. You don't need to do anything. You may want to arrange a a quick eye test at the optician and talk to your health visitor about a hearing test as many private schools do not do these.

Ah great, thanks. That makes sense.

Also thanks for advice about eye test and hearing test - good idea. Hadn't thought of that.
