a pair of glasses lying on the floor in almost every book?

Is it some sort of secret code?

This week DD's book is The Baby-Sitter. Now apart from the pair on his face I cannot find another pair. What page are they on? I am sad I know Grin
The baby-sitters sad little attempt at a moustache amused me.

The kids in my class love finding the glasses! Funnily enough, I'd never noticed them until a pointed it out to me... shows how much notice I take of the pictures!

Agree that ORT is more interesting than a lot of its predecessors (though not the best current scheme imo).

My sister and I experienced the Gay Way Readers in the 1970s.

"The big red lorry went up the hill.
The big red lorry went down the hill.
The big red lorry is full of pots and pans."

Apparently, my sister, reading one of these to my mum, suddenly turned round and said "I wish the big red lorry would run out of petrol!"

Exactly!
