i only ask as ds1 started school sept
and has had 3 bumps to the head since then, 1 minor, 2 quite bad. Each time school have phoned me and accident form filled in.

This didnt worry me til i was chatting to my mum and mentioned this when she said "hmm, 3 times in 4 months makes you wonder...". Wonder what? She wouldn't explain herself so i just had to end the conversation because it was making me too upset thinking what she was wondering e.g bullying, school lying etc.
Does this sound totally normal and my mums "wondering" for nothing? Please reassure me!

If he didnt have bumps and bruises it would be a cause for concern.

DSs have loads at age 8 and 10 - they never know how they got them.

I don't know about boys but my DDs had loads of bumps, bruises and scabby knees in their early years. I think it's quite normal.

I think the accidents are less frequent as they grow older probably after year 4.

I wouldn't wonder anything, ds2 looks permanently battered.

Help! I'd better restock the first aid kit!

Lol it isn't just boys! DD2 is 3.9 yo and is so clumsy I asked the HV to refer her to the orthoptist because I thought her eye sight was poor (I have worn glasses from 4yo). She completely showed us up and named every picture Grin so I guess she is just very clumsy! Broke her arm and split her lip during a different fall within 2 weeks! Loads of split lips when she started walking etc. Smile She is gradually improving!

Came as quite a shock after my very well balanced and co-ordinated dd1 Grin

Oops added on a year Blush 2.8yo dd2!

My DS1 is now in Year 2. As well as all the usual bumps, cuts and grazes he has had a tooth knodked out, a bloody nose from a punch and a ripped off fingernail!

And that are just the ones that have happened at school.

I think it is fairly normal for accidents to happen... it seems to especially happen to boys ime Or perhaps it is just my DS! LOL

Sali - Grin that notion will wear off too - best just to skip straight past it to 'Oh did you? Again? Now, what homework do you have tonight?' or you'll put yourself in debt!

well - if we're doing competitive clumsiness.

My DS1 only had one "bumped head" note at nursery for his entire year there [smug]

DS2 had approx 1 a week.......

DS3 hasn't had one..........yet

My ds was a right clumsy clod, he was always covered in bruises and scrapes, by the age of 7 he had broken his arm and collar bone, had two holes glued up in his forehead and stitches in his hand where he'd closed a door on it. I'm just thankful that most of his accidents happened at school/nursery or outdoors where there were witnesses! Grin

and - amazingly I managed 10yrs as a parent (3 boys) before I had to make a trip to A&E - and even then it was only a precautionary visit and he was fine Grin
