Child-friendly weather forecasts? For KS1 topic

I'm just starting a topic on weather with a mixed reception and year 1 class - are there any websites out there where the weather forecast is a bit more child-friendly? (Am thinking just basic UK map with basic weather symbols). Things like Barnaby Bear etc are fine but not actually real, I'd like to check the weather forecast online each day with them, but even the BBC looks a bit complicated!

I presume you have a school website? why not talk to the website manager and see if it would be feasible to create your own widget for it. You could tailor it to your own location and it would be quite cool.

Oh great, thank you! Can open notebook files at school so will have a look tomorrow mrz.

badkitten that is v cool! We actually have access to a class website template that I've been meaning to set up, this may well be my motivation!

Thanks both of you!

www.metoffice.gov.uk look for the invent tab, you want the weather option.
only goes for today and next day. you can centre it on your location. also good for looking at rainfall intenstity.

Nice graphical interface.

There's an Usborne book on the weather available on Amazon which is good and worth the few pounds it costs. Not quite what you're after but worth a look.

Why make it simple? How about just making it more local. Using real time data from local weather stations, you could show them the current air temperatures and the general outlook for the upcoming few days.

Example
